Radiology

Our office is pleased to offer the convenience of an on-site x-ray machine. X-ray is one of the most reliable, non-invasive and time-tested diagnostic tools. Utilizing a small amount of ionizing radiation, an x-ray provides an internal view of the body.

IMM offers chest x-rays only.

What to Expect if you Have an X-Ray

Most x-rays require no special preparation. You may be asked to remove jewelry, eye-glasses or metal objects that could interfere with the image.

You will be asked to wear a protective apron or drape to protect yourself during the image.

X-ray is a painless procedure.

When the technician is done taking the images, you will be allowed to re-dress. Your images will be read by your IMM physician and a local radiologist, a doctor who specializes in interpreting x-rays and other imaging. A follow-up visit may be required to discuss the plan of treatment. You will be notified of your results within 48 hours or sooner.

Who Should Not Have an X-Ray

It is important that women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant inform their doctor and the radiology technician before the test is performed. Many times, these tests are postponed for the safety of the fetus but your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits with you.
